Argentina Fishing Tours

Package 1: 7 Days Fly Fishing Patagonia – Lodge Accommodation

Located at the heart of the fishing area of Los Alerces National Park, in Patagonia Argentina, El Aura Lodge is a paradise for fishermen, since it provides the chance to fish in a sheltered area, just a few meters from their cabins and accompanied by experienced bilingual guides. Most of rivers and lakes are exclusive for catch and release fly-fishing: these waters are inhabited by the rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout and land-locked salmon. Almost all the fishing destinations are within an hour’s drive of the lodge, either by car, on boat or motor boat.

A typical fly-fishing day begins after breakfast when the guide will inform the guests about the particular fishing conditions for the day (type of fishing, wading, etc.) before setting off. At noon, the group will share a great outdoor lunch. And after a long day fishing, back at the lodge there are a selection of drinks and appetizers to enjoy before dinner.

Package 2: 7 Days Fly Fishing Patagonia – Float Trip Expeditions

Float Trip Expeditions allows unparalleled access to the wildest and most remote of streams some of which may never have been fished by another angler all season. The areas and rivers of floating trips and expeditions incorporate a very large potential area to fish. On any given trip, we may get into the heart of the National Parks and depending on the weather and river conditions, where we go is not 100% predetermined. But we work out a route to suit the conditions we encounter so we can maximize your time and chances of being in some of the most isolated and inspiring fly fishing spots on the planet and the chance to hook into truly stunning wild trout.
We have a diversified selection of rivers and lakes from San Carlos de Bariloche and Junin de los Andes, we fish Nahuel Huapi National Park and Lanin National Park, where natural surroundings are extremely beautiful. These waters offer many challenging characteristics from shallow riffles, fast runs, deep pools, undercut banks, isolated channel’s, vegetation mats, and deadfalls structures. All hold large quantities of Patagonian wild trout.

Package 3: 7 Days Dorado Fly Fishing Tours in Corrientes – Lodge Accommodation

Esquina in Corrientes in the North of Argentina is famous for Dorado fly fishing. Estancia Don Joaquin fly fishing lodge offers professionally guided Dorado fly fishing tours.

We provide very comfortable motorboats and expert fly-casting guides. Our guides are experienced and know the best spots for catching Dorado. Also they will advise you on the best flies to us.

Don Joaquin staff firmly believes in catch and release, sustainable fishing and responsible tourism.
7 Day program consists of all day fishing of Dorado on Corrientes river & Parana river aboard boat with BBQ lunch on river banks. Includes bilingual expert fishing guide.

The area between Yahape and Itaibaté in the province of Corrientes on the Paraná River and Corrientes River is one of the few destinations in the Argentine Northeast where big Dorados can still be fly fished.
The natural features of Paraná & Corrientes River in this area, with clear and rough waters, many geographical features, islands and wide stone bed riffles, turn this spot into the ideal destination to find these amazing predators.
The High Parana is a large system that is a tailwater about 70 kilometers below the Yacireta Dam. Because it is a tailwater, unlike other large Argentine rivers, the water is generally clear. The nature of the river and fish requires skill, so the better, more experienced casters are rewarded. The reason is that much of the fishing is site casting to fish you see, or have seen, near tree stumps, behind rocks, or under overhangs and along cut banks. Accurate casts are rewarded. You will be fishing for Dorado up to about 25 pounds, but most will be 5 to 10 pounds.
There are also Pacú, a species similar to the Permit, which usually weigh from 8 to 12 pounds. Another species found in the area is the Pira Pita (called "salmon" by local people). They can reach 15 pounds, and are good fighters and jumpers. All in all the fishing can vary and be definitely fun. These last species can also be caught on dry fly.
Other species include Dientudo (a small barracuda looking fish) and Palometa, the largest of the piranha. Most of the fishing is done from boats, but when the dam releases a lot of water, it is possible to wade the small side channels, much like you would wade a stream for trout. Because it is a tailwater, it is not susceptible to low water.

The Parana & Corrientes are huge rivers, several miles wide in some places, and you will mostly be fishing side channels that are 50 to 150 yards wide. The boats are designed so two fishermen are casting at the same time. The ecosystem of the Parana & Corrientes is essentially a jungle environment. There are monkeys in the trees, toucans, and an array of other birds and animals.

Program includes:
Airport Transfers
Expert fly-fishing guide
transfer to the Esquina port
All daily meals
alcoholic beverages
Lodging at Don Joaquín Estancia.

Its many barrios (neighborhoods) are startlingly different – some are decadently old-fashioned, others daringly modern – but all of them ooze character. Buenos Aires has got everything: night-life, tango, culture, football, excellent beef and the best local wines.
